Russo for Sudbury

Hello Friends of Broadacres,

This post is to announce a hiatus, as we shift to support one of Broadacres’ main supporters, Charlie Russo, in his run for Sudbury Select Board. Here’s what he has to say:

My name is Charlie Russo, and I am pleased to announce my candidacy for the Sudbury Select Board for the election of March 30, 2020. I love Sudbury for its open spaces, historic character, and excellent schools, as well as its robust spirit of civic debate and engagement. I want to preserve and continue the work of those who have served before, while working to improve the delivery of services and quality of life across Sudbury and planning for the future of this great community.

My wife and I moved to Sudbury in 2013, deliberately choosing this town to raise our family. Since then, I have been a member of the Town Conservation Commission for 6 years, served on the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail Task Force, advocated for the preservation of Broadacres Farm, spoke against the Eversource transmission line project at the EFSB hearing and other venues, and have spoken out for what I believe is right on various issues.

In addition, I worked as a municipal reporter in Massachusetts for nearly a decade, so Town Hall is a familiar environment for me. This experience gave me first-hand knowledge of how successful towns operate. In that role, I saw the difference between good decisions and bad, what works well and what does not, and will bring those lessons learned to the Select Board. I will also bring a dedication to facts, objectivity, and even-handedness.

Currently, I work in marketing for a healthcare technology firm. I earned a BS in Communications from Syracuse University and then an ALM in Sustainability and Environmental Management from Harvard University Extension School. My two children attend daycare in Sudbury; my oldest will attend kindergarten at Nixon Elementary School in fall of 2020.

As your Select Board representative, I will:

  • Apply the objective view and lessons learned as a municipal reporter to benefit all Sudbury residents
  • Work toward consensus, respecting opinions from all viewpoints, to accomplish Town goals
  • Be transparent in my decision-making process
  • Think independently about the long-term best interests of the Town

In the coming weeks I’ll work to hear the ideas and concerns of all residents. I hope I can win your support. Find out more at

Please mark your calendars for the March 30 election, and I ask you to vote Charlie Russo for Select Board.
